Nyla M. Sollenberger, age 76, a Coffeyville resident, entered into rest on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 2, 1930 at Fairbury, Nebraska to Fred Everett and Laura Mae (Watson) Vinsonhaler. She grew up and attended school in Fairbury, graduating from Fairbury Senior High School.
On July 19, 1948, she married Arlen Ray Sollenberger, Jr. at Fairbury, NE. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Fremont, NE where she was active in the First Baptist Church for over 30 years. She was also active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Nyla was a devoted wife for 58 years, a loving mother, grandmother and friend. In December 1982 they moved to Coffeyville. After moving to Coffeyville they attended the Tyro Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arlen of the home; two daughters, Alice (Gary) Burt of Springfield, MO, and Carol (Lowell) Otto of Columbus, NE; two sons, Arlen Ray Sollenberger III, of Lincoln, NE, and Jon (Tina) Sollenberger of Coffeyville; one brother, Richard (Marie) Vinsonhaler of Lincoln, NE; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth Pauline Vinsonhaler, and Jeanette Morrell, and infant daughter, Carolyn Kay Sollenberger.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (April 5, 2007) in the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home Chapel in Fairbury, NE. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.
David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of local arrangements.
