Marvin L. Flanders, 89, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 18, 1927, at Valeda, KS to Jack and Hazel (Towle) Henry. Marvin grew up in the Valeda an Edna area where he attended school, graduating from Labette County High School.
Marvin was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
On September 29, 1950, he was united in marriage with Myrtle Marie Miesner at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their sons. Marvin worked at Acme Foundry for several years, he also drove a school bus for many years and enjoyed getting to know all the children on his bus.
He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Marvin enjoyed camping, gardening and visiting with friends, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle of the home; two son, Glenn Flanders and wife, Diane of Dearing, and David Flanders and wife, Becky of South Coffeyville, OK; three brothers, Harold Henry, Roscoe Henry and Carl Henry; five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Henry; and one sister, Janet Poage.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Tony Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
