It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Connie Sue Merritt, who left this earthly realm on October 22, 2025. Born on March 29, 1952, in Parsons, KS, Connie was a luminous beacon of wit and laughter who blessed this world with her presence for 73 radiant years. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of loving relationships, faithful Christian service, and a zest for life that was as infectious as her humor.
Connie was a source of constant support to all who knew her. Her dedication to her family and her unwavering faith were the cornerstones of her life. She worked diligently as a Dietary Aide in a Nursing Home before her retirement, and her caring nature extended beyond her professional life, touching the hearts of all she interacted with. Her hobbies reflected her unbounded love for life and people; whether she was playing Bingo, crocheting beautiful rugs, or planning church events, Connie did everything with a joyful spirit that was truly inspiring.
Connie's life was a testament to the verse from Proverbs 31:25, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." Her laughter was truly a gift, a reflection of her free-spirited, outgoing, and outspoken personality. Connie's love and loyalty were the threads that held her family together, and it is this tapestry of love and shared memories that we honor today.
Connie is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Merritt, and her children Truman Rex and Edith (Tom) Wilson. She was a proud and doting grandmother to Mariah (Devyn) Wilson, Brittney (Demonse) Wilson, Candi (Jason) Wilson, and Sarah Hannah, and a great-grandmother to December Malone, Dj Malone, Teon Rex, AnnaLi Toner, Kloey Cranor, Autumn Hannah, Leah Hannah, Jasmine Hannah, and Cj North. She also leaves behind her siblings Cheryl (Richard) Miller, Colleen (Mike) Vandorn, and Larry Garretson.
In addition to her immediate family, Connie’s love extended to her many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and adopted families who held a special place in her heart. She cherished each of them deeply, and they, in turn, will forever carry her spirit of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Loyal and Rosie Garretson, her brother Jerry Garretson, and her daughter Rosie Pauline.
In Connie's memory, we encourage everyone to share their favorite stories, memories, and photos of her on the memorial page at www.dwbfh.com. Let us celebrate and remember her life together, with the same warmth, wit, and love that Connie shared with us all.
