Coffeyville - \n\nDale D. Maxson, 91, of rural Edna, passed away Thursday January 10, 2013 at Windsor Place Nursing Home. \n\nHe was born on November 17, 1921 to Irvan and Jeniva (Duncan) Maxson in rural Edna. He grew up and attended elementary school in Hawkin south of Edna and graduated high school from Edna. \n\nIn 1941 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corp, Dale was one the first 20 year olds out of Labette County to be drafted. He served in World War II, he was a Quarter Master and a Supply Sergant. \n\nOn January 1, 1942 he married Winifred Higginson in McPherson, KS. They made their home in Edna on their ranch. \n\nGrowing up Dale worked as Livestock Commission for Maxson Commission Firm that was located in Coffeyville, Parsons and Joplin. After he returend from the Army he went and worked for Armor as a order buyer. In 1956 they built a sale barn in Welch, OK the company later became Maxson Sale Company Incorporated with Sale Barns in Welch and South Coffeyville. In 1975 and 1976 they sold the two sale barns and continued as Maxson Sale Company Auction Services. \n\nDale was a lifetime Rancher, he also was an auctioneer. \n\nHe was a member of the Edna United Methodist Church, Edna Masonic Lodge #345 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, and Shrine, Salvation Army, Gideon Society, Farm Beaurea, Bartlette Co-Op Assn, VFW, American Quarter Horse Assn, Coffeyville Interstate Fair Board, Honorary Chapter Farmer, FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer USD 506, Coffeyville FFA, Rural Water District No.8 Board, Charter Member Edna Roundup Club, Kansas State FFA Honorary Farmer, Kansas State Farmer Homemaker. . \n\nHe is survived by two sons; Danny Maxson and his wife Peggy of Welch OK, and Rickey Maxson of Monkey Island, OK, one daughter; Kristi Esquibel and her husband Mike of Edna, one sister; Wanda Ladage of Parsons, five grandchildren, Timmy Tyson Maxson and wife Teresa, Tracy Joe Maxson and wife Kim, Ryle Duncan Maxson and wife Ashley, Karen Ann Maxson, and Michael Rio Esquibel; and four great-grandchildren, Tegan, Maxson, Taya Maxson, Taliyah Maxson, and Tracer Maxson. \n\nHe is preceded in death by his wife, one son; Timmy Dale Maxon October 4, 1964, three brothers and one sister. \n\nServices will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 16, 2013 at the Edna United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lane Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the North Edna Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Edna Masonic Lodge #345 A.F. & A.M. \n\nFriends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 2: 00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, and from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Edna United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Church in Edna. \n\nThe family suggest memorials to the Edan United Methodist Church, the Dale Maxson Labette County FFA Scholarship fund or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left eith the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
