Floyd Joseph "Joe" Temple was born December 21, 1945 in Coffeyville, Ks. to Wesley and Dorothy (McCormick) Temple. Joe passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday October 22, 2020 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Ks with his wife Carolyn of 55 years by his side. He attended school in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1963. Right out of high school Joe started working for body shops. In 1965 he married the love of his life Carolyn Sue (Gowen) Temple. They then made their home in Coffeyville, Ks. In 1970 they were blessed with a son Joseph Alan Temple, five years later in 1975 they were blessed with another son Christopher Scott Temple, and another five years in 1980 they were blessed with a daughter Staci Dee Temple. \n\n During the years of Joe and Carolyn building their family he worked for Funks, Aptus, and later Sek-Tam. He retired from Sek-Tam in 2009. Joe's greatest joy was his Corvette, taking it to car shows with his friends, and going for evening rides with Carolyn. Joe restored his corvette on his own in the 1990's, it was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed riding his Harley years ago. Joe and Carolyn enjoyed going to Red Raven's basketball games. They were season ticket holders for over twenty years. He was always known for being ornery and making people laugh. Joe was a competitive man and hated to lose at anything. He always supported his children in all their activities. Joe enjoyed walking every morning with several of his friends, and in the evening with the dogs Harley and Sparky. He also enjoyed his cat Precious. Joe and Carolyn loved to travel, they have been to Florida, California, Las Vegas, and Texas just to name a few of their afavorites. Joe loved his family and friends. Most days you would find him out cleaning on one of his cars. \n\nJoe is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home, his oldest son Joe of Rockport, Texas, son Chris and wife Jackie of Rockport, Texas, and daughter Staci of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Grandson, Tanner Sandusky of Wichita, Kansas, and granddaughter, Mia Carolyn Temple of Rockport, Texas. Step grand-children, Malayna and Matthew Vasquez of Rockport, Texas. Two Nephew,s Doug and Steve Lay, a brother in law and sister in law, Dick and Shirley Gowen of Coffeyville, Kansas, and many close family friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Dorothy (McCormick) Temple, and sister Janice Lay.\n\nVisitation will be held at David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. in Coffeyville, Kansas on Monday October 26, 2020. Friends and family may sign the registry from 12:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. that day. The family will greet friends from 6-8p.m that evening. \n\nThe Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church 1001 W. 8th St. Coffeyville, Kansas on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 2:00p.m. Per Joe's wishes cremation will take place after the services. A private interment will follow at a later date. \n\nIn lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in memory of Joe; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
