Sedan- Jerry Monroe Spellins, age 63, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his home in Sedan, Kansas. \n\nHe was born August 8, 1950 in Hancock, California to Emmit M. Spellins and Oleta L. Bohannon. He grew up and graduated school in California. In February of 1970 he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country until he was honorably discharged in 1971. After being discharged from the Army he moved to Sedan in 1979. \n\nOn January 3, 2000 he married Judy (Davis) Ward in Sedan, Kansas. They made their home in Sedan and Jerry worked several jobs before he retired. \n\nJerry loved playing the guitar, loved his grandkids, motorcycles, and his dog tootsie; He also enjoyed the annual 4th of July celebrations at his home. \n\nSurvivors include his wife; Judy Spellins of the home; two daughters, Shannon Spellins of California and Meriah Spellins of Independence, Kansas; two sons, Moses Spellins and Aaron Spellins of Coffeyville, Kansas; one sister, Connie Kight of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two step-children, Kim Uhls of Elgin, Kansas and Bill Ward of Coffeyville, Kansas; eight grandchildren. \n\nJerry was preceded in death by his parents. \n\nCremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
