Coffeyville, Kansas
Timothy Joseph Bishop, age 59, passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at his home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Tim as he was more commonly known, was born on November 3, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona to George and Patricia (Dehm) Bishop. He graduated high school in Independence, Kansas and spent his career as a machinist for Jencast in Coffeyville. This was a jack of all trades; he enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and could work on projects that ranged from bicycles and cars to yard work, construction and roofing. No matter what he was working on, Tim gave 100 percent. He never hesitated to help others or someone in need. He was always willing to offer help any time he saw someone in need.
On April 17, 1993, he married his best friend, Michelle “Shelly” Billups in Coffeyville, Kansas. The love the two of them shared was beautiful. The couple blended their families together to make one big family. Tim had a daughter from a previous relationship and Shelly had four children from a previous relationship; Tim and Shelly loved each other’s kids as their own and helped raise all the children together.
Tim was a few years older than Shelly, so she joked that he stayed busy keeping up with her. You could often spot Tim on his bike, riding all over town. He loved being outdoors and tried to always stay busy. Aside from Shelly and the kids, Tim was also passionate about music. He enjoyed writing music and playing the acoustic guitar. Tim was very proud of a song he wrote titled “The Ten Commandments”. Whenever he performed that song, it was done with all his heart. Tim was generous, kind and caring and he loved his family more than anything in the world.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Michelle “Shelly” Bishop of the home; mother, Patricia Bishop; children, Christina Bishop, Eugene Laurens, Derrek Laurens, Samantha Kuehn and Cassandra Kuehn; siblings, Dave and Fred Bishop, Nancy Segura and Geri (Bishop) Loffler, along with many extended relative and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George Bishop; his brothers, Bill and Chris Bishop; sisters, Mary Simpson, Kathy Davis and Patsy Gregory.
Following Tim’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
A Memorial Service will be held by the family on December 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Independence, Kansas.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to David W. Barnes Funeral Home to help offset the cost of the cremation expense. These can be left with the funeral home or mailed to David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
