Vernon T. Roeder, 85, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at CRMC in Coffeyville.\n\n\nVernon was born on July 28, 1931 in Valley Center, Kansas to Edward and Cecilia (Lies) Roeder. He attended school in Cherryvale, Kansas. On October 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Leota Pearce in Cherryvale. The couple made their home in Neodesha, Kansas until 1955 when they moved to Coffeyville, Kansas.\n\n\nVernon worked for Page Milk for eleven years, in the mid 1960's he started working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. In 1976 he went to work with his father-in-law doing upholstery; in 1982 he opened Roeder Upholstery where he continued working until retiring at the age of 82, and turning the business over to his son Marty.\n\n\nVernon was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. He enjoyed working on old cars and traveling with his wife in their motorhome across the United States. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends.\n\n\nSurviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Leota Roeder of the home; son, Marty Roeder of Coffeyville, Kansas; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brothers, Clayton Roeder of Wichita, Kansas, Delbert Roeder of Coffeyville, Kansas, Darrell Roeder of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sisters, Jeanie Figgins of Wichita, Kansas, Margaret Cornell of Coffeyville, Kansas and Coralee Olson of Andover, Kansas.\n\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cecilia Roeder; daughter, Sharon K. Roeder on October 27, 1993; brothers, Ed Roeder, Norman "Nick" Roeder; sister, Edna Mae Kendrick.\n\n\nFriends may call on Monday June 26, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. \n\n\n A Rosary Vigil Service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church.\n\n\nMass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, with Father Daniel Lorimer officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.\n\n\nThe family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church or Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
