Billie Ruth McDermitt Jennings went to be with our Father in Heaven, May 11, 2021 at age 96. Billie Ruth was the daughter of the late Charley Morgan and Bessie McDermitt of Caney. Billie's late mother-in-law was Marie Jennings of Caney. Billie Ruth was a loving Christian wife and mother- a quiet person with a very sweet personality...loved by all! She was born at home on January 6, 1925, in Carthage, Missouri, where her two older sisters were also born: Juanita June McDermitt Sircoulomb and Mary Ellen McDermitt Pringle. While growing up in Joplin and Caney, Billie Ruth often played her mother's organ. She worked at Tinker field during WWII before her marriage Billie Ruth was singing in the choir at Exchange Avenue Baptist Church, when she met the love of her life, E. Wayne Jennings, an OU NROTC student. They were Baptized on their wedding day, October 29, 1944, dedicating their lives and their marriage to our Lord and Savior. While living in South America, Billie and Wayne had church in their home for their neighborhood of 200 families..also helping missionaries in the area. Billie and Wayne spent time with their children...never missing a ballgame, rodeo event or concert. Billie Ruth attended Caney High School with her sisters Juanita Sircoulomb and Mary Ellen Pringle So Billie Ruth and Wayne were returning to their roots, when they built a log home on their land West of Niotaze. Billie Ruth and Wayne spent years working on Wholesale Water District #20 and Rural Water District #4. Billie Ruth was artistic, well read, well-traveled and fluent in Spanish. Her hobbies were sewing clothing design & interior design. She also loved to feed the birds. Billie Ruth McDermitt Jennings was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Ann, Mary Ellen Pringle and Juanita June Sircoulomb, also her brother Captain Carrol McDermitt, and his children, Charley, Jim and Tom. Billie Ruth is survived by her daughter Voncile Jennings, and her sons Warren Lee and Rex Alan Jennings. Voncile's daughter Anita Ruth Guice Watson and husband Steven, their children: Hunter Wayne, Garrett Douglas, and Daulton Montgomery Watson; Voncile's sons: Adrian Lee Guice and His children Scarlett Terharr and Joey and Ethan Guice; Voncile's Son: Captain Adam Wayne Guice and Cheryl Leigh, Adam's children: Aiden Walker and Cason Adam Guice. Warren's children, Angela Skinner, Kelley Brown, and Laney Homan, Rex's children: Cody, Cassidy, Jennifer Horrocks, Janna Ramien, Jared, Jessica Coxworth and 28 great grandchildren who live elsewhere Billie Ruth is also survived by her nephews George and John Pringle of Tulsa and her niece Suzanne Kelley of Barnsdall, Her nephew Davy Edens of Independence and her nephew Clair Wayne Sircoulomb of the Wichita area. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Opal Jane McDermitt of Oklahoma City. Billie Ruth is descended from the Thomas Carrol Chandler family of Missouri with most of her ancestors buried in the Sarcoxie Cemetery Billie Ruth's funeral will be held at Tyro Christian Church at 11:30 A M on May 22, 2021.Graveside Service and Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Monday, May 24,2021 at 11:00 A M. David W Barnes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
