Obituary of Harold C. Bane

Sedan - Harold C. Bane, age 71, of Sedan, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kansas. He was born August 31, 1935 in Shirley, Arkansas to Leonard M. and Myrtle (McCroskey) Bane. He grew up in Shirley, Arkansas until moving to Caney, Kansas, where he attended school until the tenth grade. He moved to Sedan, Kansas in the early 1950's. He married Carol Smiley on November 23, 1955 in Sedan, Kansas. They later divorced. He worked in the oil fields, was a self-employed logger and later owned Bane Trucking. He was a member of the Jonesburg Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by two sons, Leon Bane and his wife Nora of Elgin, Kansas and Harold Lee Bane of Sedan, Kansas; one daughter, Linda McNown and her husband Johnnie of Sedan, Kansas and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Earl Tresner officiating. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Jonesburg Church and these remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
